Global Volunteers service program fees and airfare are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers who perform prescribed service work in the host community. We strictly adhere to
IRS requirements for team members to devote a
full work day to development projects, ensuring program participants qualify for this tax deduction.

The service program fee includes
direct financial support for the host communities we serve. The fee also covers:
- Project materials for use at the work site
- Meals, accommodations, on-site travel (excluding airfare)
- Medical emergency evacuation insurance
- Team coordination and evaluation
This fee is applied to Global Volunteers' sponsored programs and community partner development, with 15 percent designated for administration and overhead. Global Volunteers is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization under U.S. law and solicits no religious or political funding. When combining federal and state income tax savings, the average volunteer saves about 33 percent of the total cost of the program.
Global Volunteers is ranked four out of four stars
on Charity Navigator, and is an accredited charity
in the national Guidestar Database.
